Taking l-arginine an hour or two before aerobic exercise may be an effective way of lowering blood pressure. The exercise and arginine in your bloodstream will help relax and widen ("vasodilate") your blood vessels and lower high blood pressure for a while. Blood pressure will be lowered for perhaps a couple of days. So you need to keep this up. Exercise at least three times a week, and with the arginine supplementation, your blood pressure will be lowered naturally (at least more naturally than a pharmaceutical drug.) This video can be found on YouTube at :-

The dose of arginine required is half a gram for every 10kg of body weight. Take your weight in kilograms, divide by ten. Then multiply the result by 0.5 and you should get your dosage. Which will be around 3-4 grams for most people. This formula has been quoted in the scientific literature, for what I'm not exactly sure, but the formula works. And it's been used by at least two holistic-approach sources.

I calculated 4g was my optimal dose of arginine before I came across this formula, which just verified mathematically my personal results. As with any supplement, there is always the danger and side effect of overdosing, so taking just the minimum arginine you need for the BP lowering effect.

If you'd like to lower your BP beyond what arginine can deliver, try other supplements. The cause of high BP is probably "multifactorial", meaning there are several reasons that contribute to high BP. Each cause may respond best to a different supplement, so a bit of trial and error may be needed. Some supplements may "fight" each other, so just be careful here.

Why isn't the BP lowering effects of arginine combined with exercise more widely known? Arginine is cheap. And can't be patented by big the big drug companies. Perhaps this is one possible reason.

Thanks for reading, and good luck with your health.

Hey bud, try hawethorne berry standardized extract at 150-475 Mg per day.
For the first week to two it has no effect, Followed by a dramatic
stabilization of blood pressure. After three weeks of Hawethorne Berry
Extract at 300 Mg/day dropped my blood pressure from 146/71 to 125/68 which
stabilized over the following 8 weeks I took it. Do some research and get
back to me if you are interested on anymore facts about it. Might add in
some celery seed extract and grape seed extract aswell. Thanks!

Kevein, THANK YOU! That’s the kind of info I need. About dosages and time
frames. If a supplement doesn’t work immediately, I tend to move on
quickly… I needed to hear what you said. I’ll follow up on this. Cheers,
Usuff

I believe hypertension, in people without pheochromocytoma or renal
stenosis , is caused by a dysfunction of L-Arginine metabolism. Rather than
an l-arginine deficiency, the core of the problem is actually oxidative
stress (free radicals) caused by stress, poor diet, disturbed sleep, but
most especially by depressed levels of endogenous antioxidant enzyme
function. My primary hypothesis is a lack of plant polyphenols (NRF2/Keap1
activating compounds like phytoestrogens, pterostilbenes, resveratrol, just
to name a few) and the absence of aerobic exercise, are primarily
responsible for this dysregulation. Depressed antioxidant enzyme response
(ARE) results in elevated free radicals, which turn L-Arginine into
asymmetric dimethylarginine (ADMA), which in turn causes nitric oxide (NO)
dysfunction in the vascular system. Since NO is responsible for smooth
muscle contraction, the vascular dysfunction of NO results in
vasoconstriction and hypertension. This hypothesis suggests that simply
reducing blood pressure over the longer term (outside of hypertensive
emergency) is inadequate to reverse the morbidity and mortality rates of
hypertension. The Cochran Report on hypertension supports this hypothesis
and calls into question the value of ACE inhibitors, calcium channel
blockers, and beta blockers. Supplementation with L-Arginine may help
diminish the accumulated ADMA levels and a number of journal articles
discuss this as the ‘L-Arginine Paradox.’ Personally, I am trying to
target the underlying oxidative stress/inflammation that results in the
l-arginine dysfunction. Polyphenol rich plants, especially soybeans, a
small amount of red wine, fish oil, vitamin d, plus superoxide dismutase
inducing dietary supplements, and of greatest importance, regular aerobic
exercise has always reduced my own hypertension and the peer reviewed
journal articles seem to be moving to that conclusion as well. Everyone is
different, some people may have an underlying pathogenesis causing
hypertension, but as most of us seem to be on the same dysfunction of
metabolism, a pathway revealed by hypertension, rather than caused by it,
which leads to metabolic syndrome, type II diabetes, obesity and shorten
lives, it would be wise to determine and address the root causes:
oxidative stress and inflammatory response.

TURMERIC ! The people that took my advice to take turmeric 10
capsules, 4-5X/day for their cancers reported their blood pressure went
down on who has HP. So I took it twice/day, my BP went down from 140/89 to
optimal 101/64 level for 2-4 hours, then 127/80 the rest of the day. It
acted like Viagra. It needed more study ! I hope more of you can
help. Turmeric is the main ingredient of Protandim pill.

The correct formula for MAP is (sys + 2*dia)/3. I’ll have to try this
L-arginine for a few days to see how will it works.

Exercise play an important part not the supplement(s). My blood pressure
used to be 150/100. After I joint the LA Fitness and 24 Hours Gyms doing
exercises every morning for about an hour. In about six months, I lost few
lbs and my blood pressure drop to 120-132 over 70-84. Watch your body mid
section size, if you can reduce your mid section body fat, you can reduce
your blood pressure for good.

I just bought L-arginine Plus it has 5110 mg of L-Arginine. I asked my
doctor and he said it cant hurt to try since I am not tolerating high blood
pressure meds well. My bp ranges from 120/87 to 149/90 . But it looks like
from your video 5110 mg of L-Arginine is too high. Do you know anything
about L-Arginine Plus?

I had some benefits using r
4.5 grams of arginine 2 times per day with empty stomach. I have a lot
better results using 1 gram of niacin two times per day. I don’t know why
Niacin is never suggested.
